Importance of Technical Education in Modern Era

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” – Martin Luther king

Education has always been the only way to unlock the true potential of a person, community, society and a nation. From the early times human has been growing exponentially so is there knowledge.
Advancement in technology paved way for a whole new concept of education in modern times. We are past the ages when technology has been the luxury of rich ones. Nowadays it has become a commodity of commons. To fulfill the needs for today’s world we need a fresh set of individuals who are proficient in application of technology in daily chores or in other terms we need technicians.

What is a technician?
Technician is an enforcer and keeper of the technology. He is an expert who has both theoretical knowledge of principle governing the machine and practical knowledge of its working. He is a vital cog between the machine or technology and its application in day to day life.
Such abundance of technology also resulted in need of a great amount of Human Resource in technical department.
What are the different sectors of employments in modern Era?

These are all the fields which gives employment opportunities in Modern Era and as you see almost every field is connected with Technology and somehow its development is dependent on involvement of technology.
All these indicate only one thing that, you need technical knowledge to survive in today’s today and if have any technical education you can easily found employment.
Technical Education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people. Technical Education covers programmed in engineering, technology, management, architecture, town planning, pharmacy, applied arts & crafts, hotel management and catering technology.
India has one of the fastest growing service sectors in the world with an annual growth rate above 9% since 2001, which contributed to 57% of GDP in 2012–13. India has become a major exporter of IT services, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services, and software services with $154 billion revenue in FY 2017. This is the fastest-growing part of the economy. The IT industry continues to be the largest private-sector employer in India. India is the third-largest start-up hub in the world with over 3,100 technology start-ups in 2014–15. The agricultural sector is the largest employer in India's economy but contributes to a declining share of its GDP (17% in 2013–14). India ranks second worldwide in farm output. The industry (manufacturing) sector has held a steady share of its economic contribution (26% of GDP in 2013–14).The Indian automobile industry is one of the largest in the world with an annual production of 21.48 million vehicles (mostly two and three-wheeler) in 2013–14. India had $600 billion worth of retail market in 2015 and one of world's fastest growing e-commerce markets.

Quite a number of engineering colleges have been started since August 15, 1947. It is due to the realization that India has to become a great industrial country and would require a far larger number of engineers than could be supplied by the older institutions.

Technical courses at different levels of education system.
1.       After matriculation (10th)
ITI & apprenticeship in different trade (mechanic, electrician, fitter, tuner, R&F, Heat engine etc.
Diploma in various engineering courses (mechanical engineering, information technologyelectrical engineering, etc.
Certificate and diplomas in lab technicians, radiography, OT technician etc.

2.       After higher secondary (12th)
Diploma in various engineering courses (mechanical engineering, information technologyelectrical engineering, etc.
Bachelor’s Degree like – BCA, B.sc (Information Technology, Computer Science, Maths, Chemistry etc.), B.Tech (ME, CS, IT, EEE, E&C, Civil, etc.)
Nursing, X-Ray technician etc.

3.       After graduation
Master’s degree – MCA, MBA, M.sc, PGDAM, etc.
Special certification – Artificial Intelligence (AI), Fashion Technology, Data Analysis, public administration, etc.
All of the above courses are very good prospectus for career build-up at different stages of life.
There are few other emerging fields which would lay out the future industrial setup and Artificial Intelligence is one of them. Need for more accurate, precise and fast output had laid out the foundation for Intelligent machines.
Many premier institutes like IIT-Hyderabad, Bombay, Roorkee etc. provide graduate and undergraduate courses in AI. There are many other institutes of repute like Patronage, Amity, etc.  also provide AI certification course in Delhi NCR area.
Conclusion                                                                                                                                                                           The timing has never been better for getting technical knowledge to improve career scope at all levels, in all places, and for people of all backgrounds. From the modernization of E-rate to the proliferation and adoption of openly licensed educational resources, the key pieces necessary to realize best the transformations made possible by technology in education are in place.

Although the presence of technology does not ensure equity and accessibility in learning, it has the power to lower barriers to both in ways previously impossible. No matter their perceived abilities or geographic locations, all learners can access resources, experiences, planning tools, and information that can set them on a path to acquiring expertise unimaginable a generation ago.

All of this can work to augment the knowledge, skills, and competencies that can be obtained through technical education.

It is a time of great possibility and progress for the use of technical knowledge to support career and person growth.
